Nintendo 64 (N64)

The Nintendo 64, often abbreviated as N64, is Nintendo’s third home video game console for the international market. Named for its 32/64 bit processor, it was released on June 23, 1996 in Japan, September 29th, 1996 in North America.

It was released with two launch games, Super Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64. The N64’s suggested retail price was US$199 at its launch and it was later marketed with the slogan: “Get N, or get Out!”

The N64 controller was also deemed revolutionary. With its unique design, comfortable grip, and analog thumb stick it was a great success. Unfortunately the thumb sticks were poorly designed and tend to wear out to the point of being unplayable. Luckily some retailers such as ourselves carry replacement joysticks that can easily be changed in about 15 minutes.
