Nintendo’s Saturo Iwata teased a huge announcement ahead of their 3:00pm PST Nintendo Direct today by announcing that the company would be embracing the Phillips CD-I console and release the full library of games on the Wii U Virtual Console this fall.

Iwata focused specifically on the Legend of Zelda entries on the CD-I stating; “To apologize for the recently announced delay of Zelda Wii U, we would like to offer these (three) ‘classic’ Zelda adventures in it’s place that many long time franchise fans may have missed upon their initial release *laughs*”.

The first wave of titles is set to hit the Virtual Console this Sept 31st, 2015.
